Dr. Sharon A. Ransom, M.D., is an Obstetrician/Gynecologist, practicing in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She is the Founder and Executive Director of the International Partnership for Reproductive Health, a not for profit, medical organization dedicated to improving reproductive healthcare for the women of Ethiopia.
Doing Global Healthcare for Women
Dr. Ransom’s passion for women’s health and global medicine is an enduring attribute. She has 20 years of knowledge, skill, and wisdom acquired during her work in rural communities in America and New Zealand.
She is inspired by countless other women and healthcare providers who work to bring health to all people.
Through her work as Executive Director of the International Partnership for Reproductive Health, she demonstrates a commitment to global women’s health. Her work has fostered relationships between hospitals in Ethiopia and the USA. Dr Ransom has worked for the past fourteen years to bring reproductive care to the women in Adama, Ethiopia. She works to train medical students, physicians, nurses, and healthcare workers to exercise compassion in the care of all women. Dr. Ransom recognizes that providing global heathcare for women requires empathy and an appreciation of many cultures. She loves the connections that grow from global collaborations.
In addition to the work of IPRH, Dr. Ransom maintains a rigorous schedule of clinic and surgery in New Mexico.
She is mother to four, creative and loving adult children and grandmother to three adorable granddaughters. She lives in Corrales, New Mexico with her husband, Peter Gooch.
